WHAT IS COACHING?

When athletes want to improve in their sport they work with a professional sports coach. If you want positive change in your life, you  work with a certified Life Coach. We have all the tools to make your life more productive and fulfilling.

​Unlike therapy, I don't dwell on your past. Instead I focus on what you want to achieve today even if that goal is not entirely clear at the moment. We work together to unearth possibilities and opportunities so you can make an informed decision. Along the way you become more aware of who you and grow more confident.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A COACHING SESSION?

During each session we will recap on the actions set and achieved from the last session and look at general progress and successes. We will then set a ‘session goal’ to clearly set out what you want to achieve by the end of the day’s session. We then explore where you are at the moment with that particular goal; what you have tried; what has worked and any obstacles you have come across along the way. We then explore all the possible options in achieving that goal, using lots of techniques to really extract options that you have never thought of before. Lastly and most importantly we look at what actions you want to set yourself from the list of options to achieve that session’s goal.

HOW IS LIFE COACHING DIFFERENT FROM COUNSELING?

Coaching and counseling are similar in the sense that both counsellors and coaches ask the client questions, sometimes requiring a lot of soul-searching. Neither a counsellor nor a coach will give advice but they will listen to what you say and direct the conversation with further pertinent questions. However, whereas the typical counseling session will be dealing with emotions and issues in the past affecting the present, the coaching relationship is focussed on the future and deals with optimizing the opportunities in your life for you to ultimately achieve greater happiness.

HOW DO I KNOW COACHING IS FOR ME?

Characteristics of someone who might consider coaching: ​

  • Feels stuck in life and can't move forward

  • Recent life transition (death, relationship change, job loss, retirement) and don't know what to do

  • Dissatisfied with current life or job and fear the future

  • Cannot make decisions and feels overwhelmed

  • You are ready to take charge and make a positive change in your life.​​


My job is to utilize techniques to help my clients in all aspects of their life. Whether my clients are struggling with sticking to a diet, trying to do something out of their comfort zone, learning to stand up for themselves at work, or even learning a new language, I'm here to help them reach their goals to find the balance in life that everyone strives for. Through questions and exercises I strive to get a good idea of how my clients look at the world. From there I help you identify the most effective route to reach your goal. Many people feel intimidated by the idea of change, so they feel the need to take things slowly to fulfill their goals​. If that's your problem I will help you to divide your goals into smaller bite-sized pieces so the task isn't overwhelming. On the other side of the spectrum, there are many others who get impatient and lose interest in reaching their goals. I can help with that too! I can provide reminders and incentives to keep them on track. Together within the first couple sessions we will make a plan with what kind of supports you will need for your unique goals and personality.
